A little bit ago, I shared an Instagram post about making a shirt out of old leggings. I fully intend to share how I did it, but I don’t have any old leggings.
So………stay tuned cause it will happen sooner or later.
Anyways, if you’re like me, purchasing expensive workout clothes from places like Alo Yoga, Lululemon, or Nike is unreasonable and way out of reach most of the time. But I still want to look cute in my quest for fitness, so I turn to more affordable options. Often times that means hunting the local thrift store for some used like new workout clothes, or I turn to the scissors and mod something I already own.

What you’ll need
Speaking of scissors, that’s the only tool you’ll need for this project. So grab a pair and lets get started.
The next thing you’ll need is a shirt. Pick your favorite, pick the oldest, pick the one with the coolest pattern or graphic, pick whichever will make you the happiest and feel the most confident at the gym.
Now that you’ve chosen your shirt, it’s time to start modding. And we do that with scissors.
Step 1

My favorite thing to do, first, is cut off the collar seam. There’s nothing worse than feeling choked to death by a t-shirt. But, if you’re afraid of that much commitment, you can cut a line straight through the center of the collar.
Step 2

The next change I made was to cut the seam off the sleeve. I wasn’t looking for a really short sleeve, but if you want something shorter, all you have to do is pick a place and start cutting. I recommend cutting at a slight angle if you intend on keeping some sleeve. Otherwise, just cut along the seam to get a tank top look.
Step 3

The very final step I took was to cut off the bottom. I decided to cut off right below the graphic, but again, you can cut it anywhere you need or want it.
The only step left is to try it on and rock it!
